Canvas in Common: Come Make Your Mark!

This Saturday, the Ossining Arts Council invites the community to slow down, spend some time together, and help create something that belongs to all of us.

Canvas in Common is part community gathering, part collaborative art experience—and everyone is invited to take part.

At the center of the afternoon will be a large shared canvas waiting to be transformed. There is no required style, no artistic experience needed, and no expectation that anyone arrive with a finished idea. Simply pick up a brush, choose a color, and add something of your own.

A line. A shape. A flower. A pattern. A small detail.

By the end of the afternoon, all of those individual marks will become one collective work of art.

It’s About Coming Together

Canvas in Common isn’t about creating the “perfect” painting. It’s about the experience of making something side by side with neighbors, friends, families, artists, and people you may be meeting for the first time.

Bring a picnic lunch, a blanket and/or chair, settle in for the afternoon, and enjoy being part of a creative community.

OAC will provide paint and brushes for the shared canvas, and anyone who would rather work on something of their own is welcome to bring sketching, drawing, coloring, or other art supplies.

You can participate for five minutes or stay for the afternoon. Every contribution becomes part of the story.

Rain or Shine

The event will take place at Grace Episcopal Church, St. Paul’s Campus, with access to both the grassy common and Parish Hall, so the gathering will continue rain or shine.

Bring Yourself. Add Your Mark.

You don’t have to consider yourself an artist to participate.

Canvas in Common is about what happens when a community gathers around one blank surface and begins creating together.

We hope you’ll join us Saturday—and leave a little piece of yourself on the canvas.

Come make your mark.
