Sharon Powell

Moving to Putnam County after a 21-year career in law enforcement was a big adjustment. I had painted in my 20s for my own amusement, but I’ve had no formal training in art. Thanks to a portrait class with Anne Zimmermann, an Ossining Arts Council member, I decided to try my hand at art again. I mostly work with acrylics, although I do enjoy watercolors, soft pastels, and charcoal. I find a great deal of peace when I paint, and I lose myself in the images that I create. I am a contemporary realist painter whose work explores the beauty, spirit, and emotions of the natural world. I find magic in the images I create, and I hope the people who look at my paintings see that also.
