• The 2021 OAC Annual Members Exhibition

    As we emerge from the darkness of the COVID pandemic into brighter days, we are pleased to announce that the 2021 Ossining Arts Council's Annual Members' Show will be able to take place at the Ossining Public Library in June. The exhibit will also be mounted virtually! We are organizing the show a bit differently this year, so please do read this information and the entire Prospectus carefully.

    This Exhibition is open to all OAC Members in good standing. If you are not a member, you can join on or before May 15th.

    Each member is permitted to submit ONE entry to the show. All submissions need to be made by Wednesday, May 19th, and will be featured in the on site and virtual exhibits.

    Please name your image file with your LAST NAME and Artwork Title (e.g. KIEFER Light Emerging). All artists MUST submit an image.

    Our mission:

    In adopting this mission, we hope to demonstrate that art is an important, vital and affirming force - both in the life of a community and in the life of each individual it touches. We welcome everyone interested in supporting the local arts scene - artists and non-artists alike!

    We're based at The Steamer Firehouse Gallery at 117 Main Street, Ossining. We currently meet on Zoom the second Wednesday each month to discuss and plan forthcoming OAC activity - this includes member art exhibitions, fundraisers and arts-based community events. If you would like to attend a meeting, you are most welcome.

    We're still here to encourage participation in - and love of - the arts, in all their forms. We help our artist members promote their work through various channels. These include OAC-hosted events, use of our physical Gallery Space in the Steamer Firehouse (according to current health and safety guidelines) and a dedicated artist profile and showcase through our Online Galleries. In addition, our member artists become part of a thriving artistic community here in Ossining. We offer a social and creative hub, where like-minded people can meet, share ideas and foster new projects and collaborations.

2021 Living Art Event

The Ossining Arts Council (OAC) and Westchester Collaborative Theater (WCT) Present 

The 2021 Virtual Living Art Event – An Innovative Merger of Art and Theater

The fifth Living Art Event will be live-streamed March 6-27 

 

Ossining, NY – The Ossining Arts Council (OAC) and Westchester Collaborative Theater (WCT) will present the 2021 Virtual Living Art Event (LAE), showcasing seven original WCT one-act plays inspired by selected OAC artworks, live streamed to ticketholders every Saturday through March on YouTube: March 6, 13, 20 and 27 at 8 pm. The production is co-produced by WCT Executive Director Alan Lutwin and WCT member and actor/director Melissa Nocera. Christopher Arena, WCT member and director/actor/playwright, is the director. A selection of 19 artworks by OAC members originally on exhibit at the Ossining Public Library in June of 2019 will be featured in the production. OAC docents Bonnie Coe and Jill Kiefer will introduce the paintings and sculptures by Keith Gordon, OAC treasurer; Phyllis Kirigin, WCT actor; April Freeman Locke; Ted Berkowitz; Peg Tarnosky; Louise Belevich; and Jill Kiefer that inspired the Living Art plays. Actors were chosen from WCT members and the community.

The 2021 Living Art Event is dedicated to the memory of Joe Albert Lima, longtime WCT playwright/director/actor member who passed away last year. Lima was scheduled to direct the LAE in 2020.
