Day of the Dead (Día de los Muertos) is a Mexican holiday when the souls of the departed are believed to walk the earth. The Mexican take on death is one of acceptance and vibrant imagery. Mexican families erect altars with offerings to their ancestors and picnic at their graves. Children nibble on sugar skulls, and bakeries feature pan de muerto, or bread of the dead.
