Self-Portrait Workshop with Dominique Medici

Self-Portrait Workshop with Dominique Medici

The Ossining Arts Council is pleased to welcome Dominique Medici to The Steamer Firehouse Gallery on Jan 30th-31st 2016 for a Self-Portrait Workshop.

The Self-Portrait has been a tradition for artists through the millennia, serving as both a historical document and window into the interior of the artists being. There is a quality and intensity in the way we observe when drawing and painting. Turning this level of awareness back on ourselves is a revealing and inspiring process.

During this 2 day painting workshop Dominique Medici will demonstrate and give individual instruction each day. We will consider the following aspects of a self-portrait. We will start with the basics such as brush and palette care, panel preparation and setting up the workspace. Then move on to composition, drawing and proportions. We will learn about developing basic light and shade, modeling the form and finally achieving a good likeness. My Goal is that each student walks away with a clear understanding of how to approach a self-portrait.

Saturday, January 30 and Sunday January 31 9 - 4 PM

Steamer Firehouse Gallery, 117 Main Street 2nd floor, Ossining

How Much:

$250 for both days
