"DAY OF THE DEAD: PARTY WITH THE DEPARTED"
Day of the Dead (Día de los Muertos) is a Mexican holiday when the souls of the departed are believed to walk the earth. The Mexican take on death is one of acceptance and vibrant imagery. Mexican families erect altars with offerings to their ancestors and picnic at their graves. Children nibble on sugar skulls, and bakeries feature pan de muerto, or bread of the dead.
The exhibit will feature art on the Day of the Dead theme. At the Costume Party Fundraiser, well be serving great Mexican food and beverages, and music will play throughout the evening. Costumes are optional but we hope youll participate! Three Best Costume Winners (judged by audience applause) will be given prizes. A good time will be had by all!
